Nishit Patel is first and foremost a teacher of Yoga and Meditation, although he has also been a pharmacist (India) and a graduate student in Medical Psychology (USA). He started meditating under the guidance of his father at the tender age of five. As a youth, he became enamored of scriptures such as the Mahabharata and Ramayana, studying them extensively. Today, his love of scriptures and his unique ability to decipher and explain their subtlety make him an inspired teacher of the Bhagavad Gita and Yoga Sutras, essential texts for anyone seeking to penetrate the heart of Yoga. He is a Yoga teacher with a profound understanding of the source and power of this transformative practice.
Patel met the Himalayan Master Sri Swami Rama in 1988 and was initiated in the tradition of the Himalayan Masters. From that moment he dedicated himself to teaching. He was appointed Director of the Himalayan Institute of New York City in 1995, and has been steadfastly serving the New York community to bring health, wealth, and prosperity into the lives of all he meets. Since the close of the New York City chapter of the Himalayan Institute in July, 2005, he has continued serving as an independent hatha Yoga, pranayama, and Yoga Meditation instructor, touching the lives of hundreds through his tireless work. Patel has lectured widely on Yoga at international venues including Cornell University, New York University, Columbia University, The New School, Long Island University, and the Sai Baba Center in Trinidad, Yoga Teachers Association of New York, and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. He has trained and inspired many Yoga teachers in the Himalayan tradition, and has served as a Yoga consultant for corporations and institutions such as Fountain House, Jhane Barnes, Inc. and a subsidiary of Boston Consulting Group. Patel inspires all seekers through the perennial wisdom of the ancient sister sciences of Yoga and ayurveda. He engages each student to live a life full of richness on all levels--physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. His uplifting stories and practical teachings bring the stream of direct knowledge to his beloved students with its potential to bring health, prosperity, and abundance into each and every life. He has dedicated his life to bringing the footprints of the Himalayan masters to every human heart.
